Quick StartGuide

Everything you need to begin spotting demons in 7 steps.

1 🎯
Step 1

What Is Demon Spotting?

Demon Spotting is a tactical awareness tool and an emotional healing game. Winning looks like forgiveness — for yourself and for the people involved.

It uses 16 code words to identify the behavior patterns — positions and attacks — that keep you stuck in confusion, shame and disconnection. You can't escape a hold you can't identify.

The framework borrows from martial arts — because the best defense against verbal and emotional attacks is the same as physical defense.

Think of it as Mixed Martial Arts for your mouth.

You can't escape a hold you can't identify. Once you name the pattern — its power over you begins to dissolve.

"I created this game to help me discern when I was talking to Jesus — and when I was chatting with demons."

— Gwyneth Ragsdale, DramaGuru

Step 2

Before You Begin

The game works best when you approach it from a place of calm curiosity — not reactive emotion. Before you spin:

🌬️
BreatheTake three slow breaths. Let the emotion settle before you begin.
🐆
Climb the BranchYou are the observer — not the participant. Perch above the situation like a jungle cat. From up here, everything is information.
🎯
Set Your IntentionYou are here to identify patterns — not assign blame. Not even to yourself. Curiosity only.
"Start small. Defense first. You will still make mistakes. That is not failure — that is the curriculum."

Step 3

The 16 Code Words

There are 8 Positions — the roles people take — and 8 Attacks — the moves they make. Together they form the complete vocabulary of Demon Spotting.

🦨
PositionsSkunk · Porcupine · Vulture · Rabbit · Peacock · Ostrich · Chameleon · Magpie
⚔️
AttacksBaby Jane · Grandiose · Eddie · Turncoat · Two-Timer · Creepy Wally · Vampire · Sneaky Millie

Take a look at the interactive code words on the landing page whenever you need a reminder. Click once for a teaser. Click again to go deeper. They are always there for you.

The definitions are also displayed on each of your three revealed cards — so even if your mind goes blank in an emotional moment, everything you need is right in front of you. 🌸

Over time, through practice, the code words will become familiar. There's no test. No pressure. Just recognition building naturally.

Step 4

Two Ways to Play

🎲
Way 1 — The RandomizerLet Holy Spirit choose. Press the button. Three code words are revealed. Trust what arrives — even when it surprises you. The surprise is the teaching.
🔍
Way 2 — The Self-SelectYou already sense the pattern. Browse the 16 code words on the landing page. Build your own combination of three. The recognition is the teaching.
"Grab your notebook and your coffee. You are the detective. This is your scene of the crime."
5 🔍
Step 5

Read Your Three Cards

Three code words have arrived for you. Now ask:

Why These? What do these three words have in common? Who comes to mind? What pattern connects them?
Why Now?What's happening in your life right now? Why did Holy Spirit surface this today? What are you being prepared for — or protected from?
✍️
Write One SentenceDescribe your situation using your three code words. Example: Magpie · Ostrich · Baby Jane — "While everything else was falling apart, I focused on the wrong thing."
"The cards that surprise you most are often the ones working hardest for you. Don't spin again. If the combination feels wrong — sit with it. Something in your blind spot may be trying to get your attention. If you spin again, you will miss something."

Step 6

The Double Reveal

This is where Demon Spotting goes deeper than most awareness tools. The cards reveal two things simultaneously:

👁️
The First RevealWhat the other person did. The pattern you can now name. The hold you can now identify — and therefore escape.
🪞
The Second RevealWhat YOU did. Your role in the pattern. Not to condemn — but to complete the picture. You were also on the mat.

Ask yourself honestly: "Where have I seen this pattern before — and what was my part in it?"

"The player is always responsible for noticing what they did vs what the other person did. That is the Double Reveal."
7 🌸
Step 7

Forgiveness — The Third Reveal

After the Double Reveal — when you've seen both what was done to you AND what you did — there is one final and most important question:

💔
Who Needs to Be Forgiven?Ask Holy Spirit to remind you of anyone in your blind spot who needs forgiveness. Someone you've been holding onto. Someone whose debt you've been keeping a record of.
🌸
Do You Need to Forgive Yourself? This is the most powerful — and most avoided — question in the game. You were also on the mat. You also made choices. Grace applies to you too.
🙏
Receive the GraceThe goal is not perfection. The goal is movement — from the River of Shame toward the River of Grace. One pattern named. One forgiveness extended. One step at a time.

I am worth the process.
I am worth the healing.
I am worth the boundary.
I am worth the grace.

Forgiveness doesn't mean what happened was acceptable.
Some opponents were never playing fair.
Forgiveness means you're done carrying the weight of it.

Whatever arrived for you today — be gentle with yourself.
You were not losing because you weren't enough. 🌸

"Forgive others first — and you too will be forgiven."

— Jesus

The River of Grace flows in both directions. 🌊
